Set up a model

Open the extension and choose Translation settings.
Choose Ollama, LM Studio, OpenAI, or a custom OpenAI Chat Completions-compatible API. Use the base URL from your provider, commonly ending in /v1. Remote endpoints require HTTPS.
Enter your own API key if the service requires one. Allow the endpoint permission when prompted. Changing the endpoint origin clears the old key from the form.
Check connection and models, choose an instruction-following model, then test short translation and save. A successful model-list request alone does not prove translation works.
Open an ordinary webpage and click Translate this page. Translation may incur charges with your provider.

The local presets use http://localhost:11434/v1 for Ollama and http://localhost:1234/v1 for LM Studio. Your local model server must already be running and have a compatible model loaded. For an endpoint without a models list, enter the model identifier manually and run the translation test.

Selection and progress

Enable selection translation in settings and grant webpage access, then reload open pages. Select text and click the floating button, or hover for about 350 ms. Moving away before the hover delay makes no model request. Escape or clicking elsewhere closes the panel and attempts to cancel its active request.

Click the page progress area for details. Hiding the progress panel lets translation continue; Cancel stops the task and restores the original page. On a later error, translations from completed batches are kept. Refreshing the page or translating again starts new requests; there is no persistent translation cache.

Troubleshooting

If a local model is slow, start with a batch limit of 1000–1500 and a smaller instruction-following model. Each request has a 90-second timeout; format recovery may split and retry. Each original batch is limited to eight model calls and four minutes overall.
If a model returns invalid JSON or misses passages, reduce the batch size or choose a model that follows structured instructions more reliably.
Browser settings pages, extension stores, PDFs, image text, videos and cross-origin frames are not supported. Dynamic page layouts may require selection translation.
After reloading or updating the extension, reload webpages that were already open. Old content scripts belong to the previous extension context.
For a saved-key error, enter the endpoint and API key again and save. Clearing the API key and saving removes the saved credential.

中文设置步骤

打开扩展的“翻译服务设置”，选择本地服务或自己的云端兼容接口。
填写服务商提供的 API Base URL；需要鉴权时填写自己的 API Key，并授予接口访问权限。
检测连接、选择模型、测试短文本翻译，然后保存。
打开普通网页，点击“翻译当前页面”。划选翻译需在设置中单独开启，并刷新已打开的页面。

本机或较慢模型建议每批 1000–1500 个字符。若后续批次失败，已完成译文会保留；刷新或重新翻译会从头调用模型。隐藏进度浮窗不会停止翻译，取消会停止任务并恢复原文。模型接口可能按已收到的请求收费，取消不能保证撤销费用。

Please include the extension version, browser version, steps to reproduce, and a non-sensitive error message. A public example URL is optional if you are comfortable sharing it. Do not send API keys, passwords, private page text, or screenshots containing confidential data.
